Progressive Think-Tanker admits to Single-Payer Agenda

Thus far, I have not had much experience, or interest, in following “think tank” types.

But, came across The New America Foundation, due to a link at MSN Money, regarding better ways to save money.

Quite scary. I have known a few people who really wanted to change the world in a radical way. But, they have mostly been fairly eccentric.

The fellows at this liberal (aka Progressive) “think tank” are obviously smart, at least based on their educational successes and publications, etc.

Regarding healthcare finance agenda of The Left, according to Michael Lind:

Progressives hope, and conservatives fear, that the public plan over time will absorb more and more American workers, eventually becoming a de facto single-payer system.

Something else about this article.

I have difficulty with this Collectivist’s use of the term “social contract“. Is that like a legal contract, which people are supposed to be able to enter into voluntarily? I doubt it. Why not instead use “enforced social scheme”? Obviously, that what he is describing, right? Let’s be honest.

I get nauseous thinking about “social engineering” types, who want to make radical, or just very significant, changes in the world, impacting large groups of people. WTF!

Its apparent that they believe that they are qualified to create these new schemes; and the tone of this article seems like one of confidence of success. (Why do I sense this fellow might not even know how to change his own oil?)

I just have to say the the implied sense of entitlement and grandiosity is quite nauseating.

I suppose if you have lots of schooling, and a giant ego, and maybe want to be respected as an egghead, and need to make a living, this is what these people do.

I thank this gentleman for his honesty.

Liberty for Capital Migration by Americans?

Liberty for Capital Migration by Americans.

Does this exist? If so, to what degree?

Is the USA at risk of becoming another USSR, where citizens had to be “locked into” the country?

(Yes, younger folk. This did happen. Google it.)

I recently went to the 2009 Freedomfest in Las Vegas, pretty much a combination political, economic and financial event, mostly for Libertarian types.

One of the more popular speakers there was Marshall Langer, an attorney specializing in international law and taxation. He held a few different sessions.

In one of the sessions, he asked for a show of hands, among the 100+ people in the meeting, as to how many people were actually interested in moving to a foreign country partly for taxation reasons.

Almost all of the hands shot up. And, when I say “shot up”, I mean “shot up”! There was much energy there was around this.

Taxation is a subject I know very little about. Apparently, the general understanding is that politicians like Obama are aware of this “capital flight” possibility. This is why Democrats are working to better control offshore investing, and beefing up IRS reporting and currency exchange requirements. (This is not just a national security / anti-terrorism issue.)

Apparently, also there are forces at work to deprive Americans of some of their property (via taxation) if and when then seek to actually move abroad and rescind their American citizenship.
Apparently, the USA is perhaps the only that taxes its citizens no mater where they are living in the world. Anybody know the definite answer to this?

You can’t blame people for wanting to live in places that best suit their needs, especially to the extent 401(k) balances are diminished and Social Security benefit amounts are threatened by fiscal problems?

Presumably, potential capital migration should be an incentive for superior political management of a nation. Obviously, we know what the Communist Russia had to do to keep its population stable.

Presumably, micro-management of a society, and oppressive taxation (to pay for all of those bureaucrats), along with, possibly, a declining economy, should only entice more Americans to migrate. We are already seeing some flow south and to Asia.

Its so easy to get on the internet and, with pictures and videos, actually witness more the quality of life abroad.

I will post it later, but there is a very good tool called, something like, the “Freedom Index” that offers a more objective assessment of various nations, using criteria important to freedom-seeking persons.

This post is not necessarily an argument against all taxation. It’s just good to note that this possible reaction exists.

What can, or what would the country do if too if there were some significant degree of a net capital flight?

Peter Schiff for US Senate – from Connecticut

Connecticut and America would be incredibly better off with Peter Schiff replacing Hard-Core Liberal Christopher Dodd.

( For news about Dodd’s declining poll numbers, see this article. )

Peter Schiff is a successful businessman, an economic and financial expert, with a keen understanding of the problems that America now faces, with a realistic vision of what we need to do to move forward.

Abusive, Tax-and-Spend Liberal Politicians like Dodd have played major roles in harming our economy. When you listen to Schiff’s videos, many of them includes solid advice about how we as individuals, and as a country, can move forward.

Hopefully, Schiff will be coming out with more hard-hitting interviews where he more clearly elucidates political issues and solutions. Much of his media presentations are financial and investment related, as he is President of a successful investment management firm.

However, obviously, most of our greatest challenges today are economic and financial. (No more community organizers, please!) But, if you listen to enough videos, you can tell that Peter is one straight-talking smart dude. Someone that the Senate and America desperately needs.

As an aside, Schiff is not a favorite of the liberal media. His skill at understanding and prognosticating about our declining economy is still discounted by many in the press, even though his predictions have been cannily accurate. His perceptions have been negative over the last few years. However, importantly, he has been right on accurate. And, isn’t this what we need. Someone with a good understanding and clear vision.

I would assume that many young people (including Ron Paul supporters) would be supporting this bright energetic Moderate Libertarian-leaning Republican.

Here is a recent Fox News episode worth checking out. (Or just do a search at YouTube.)

Ronald Reagan speaks out against Obamacare

Many of those who want tax-payer funded and government-run health care either can’t afford their own health insurance, or don’t want to take care of themselves.

Many of the advocates are coercive, anti-business, collectivist ideologues, who want the government to tax (or steal from) the productive people for the purpose of redistributing income and wealth to others.

Here is what President Reagan had to say about this:
